A Quick Summary of Christmas

We got home last night from our 6 day Christmas vacation which was great.

We were able to see my Dad and grandparents on Tuesday and Christmas Eve with Ryan’s family was a lot of fun as usual. The kids really enjoyed themselves, Alex loves playing with her cousins. One bummer about living far away is that our kids don’t get to play with their cousins as much as we would like. But, I guess that makes the time they do have together that much better.

Christmas morning was great. The kids both got one big present and then a few little things. Connor’s big gift was a Lightning McQueen car that talks, dances, and drives around. Alex’s was a Dora and Pegasus horse that she loves. Ryan and I decided not to do anything for each other (since Christmas came early for us in the form of a TV and new van), but his sister talked him in to spending $20 on me because there was a huge scrap booking sale down in Utah, so I got a ton of stuff. Now I really need to do some scrap booking and I don’t have any excuses.

All in all it was a fun week. Ryan had a lot of fun playing and spending time with the kids. We are all happy to finally be home. Unfortunately Ryan came down with a sinus infection on Friday night. Hopefully he’ll feel better soon. Connor must have caught a little bug yesterday too. Right when we got home he threw up and now has a high fever and is really grumpy. Poor little guy. Even with these little sicknesses, Christmas was great and we feel blessed.

Christmas Vacation

We are all packed up and ready to leave. We are heading down to Utah for our week long
Christmas vacation.

First is a Christmas party today with my Dads family. Tomorrow night a Christmas Eve dinner with Ryan's family and of course Christmas morning brunch at my Moms. The rest of the week we will just visit friends and family. What a great time of the year.

For Sale

As most of you know we bought a new Minivan, not because our old one was bad or run down, but well because I can honestly say I’m a bit spoiled and wanted something a little newer.

Now I wouldn’t normally do this, but anything helps. We are trying to sell our old Minivan so if you know of anyone in the market for an inexpensive minivan that’s in great shape, let them know about ours.

I don’t have any picture but it’s technically “Iris” or grayish-purple, but Alex thinks and says it’s gray, you decide.

Just A Little Update

It’s been some time now since my last post so I thought I’d write a little post Thanksgiving update. I’m still down in Utah. We came down Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. We had a really nice Thanksgiving Day with Ryan’s family. Ryan’s cute, pregnant sister did an amazing job hosting our get together. Thanks Karen – you never cease to amaze!
Ryan went home on Sunday and I stayed hoping to get some scrapbooking done which hasn’t happened and probably won’t. I also stayed because Ryan will be baptizing one of our nephews on Saturday and on Sunday his sister Lisa’s baby will be blessed and we’ll be blessing Hayden as well. I didn’t really feel like making the drive down more then I really needed to so I stuck around. Poor Ryan, he had to go back to work.
It has been a pretty uneventful week so far, well kind of. On Monday I bought a new Minivan that I’m really excited about! But, I have to wait until Friday to get it when Ryan comes down so we can both sign all the paper work. I can’t wait to get it - as soon as I do I’ll post pictures and write more about it.

Whack-A-Baby

Well today Connor showed his first true signs of jealousy towards Hayden. After getting Connor out of the tub and dressing him I went to feed Hayden and Connor didn’t like that I stopped paying attention to him, so he started lightly kicking me. I moved and he stopped then he stood up walked over to me and Hayden and softly whacked him on the head with his hand. Hayden didn’t cry, but Connor was pretty pleased with himself then he walked away and started playing.

I had a little talk with him, but really, who knows if he understood any of it. I have to say six weeks and this is the first mean thing he has done, which isn’t too bad, but then again it’s never good either. I’ll just have to watch Connor more closely from now on and try to give him more attention.

Mastitis What Is It?

The definition of mastitis:

“Mastitis is a breast infection that can leave you feeling as if you've come down with the flu. You may notice areas of redness, hardness, soreness, or heat in your breast, and swelling of the affected milk duct. Common, and more serious, signs of the infection include chills, a fever of 101 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, and fatigue.”

Yep, I got it again. This is now the 4th time I have had mastitis, but the first with Hayden and I think I can say that this one was the worst of the bunch. It started last Friday night and the soreness and redness has still been lingering. I think Saturday was the worst. I had a fever between a 101 and 103.5 all day, chills, nausea and I even threw up. My fever finely broke around 4:00 am on Sunday morning. To make things even worse I also was trying to fight off a cold with no luck because the cold has got worse throughout the week.

With that said, I am so thankful and in debt to my wonderful husband who took care of me and all three kids. Getting up with Hayden at night, up early with Connor in the morning and he was even able to get a little cleaning done around the house. I’m not quite sure how to thank him. He truly is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you so much babe and thanks for every thing you have done for me and the kids.

Happy Halloween

Yesterday was Ryan’s work Halloween party where all the employee’s kids are invited to go trick-or-treat at the office. It’s always lots of fun for the kids to see how Melaleuca has transformed their building and how their parents have dressed up. It also worked out great for Alex because her school had their Halloween party and let all the kids dress up as well.

The marketing department where Ry works decided on a jungle theme this year and had characters from Gilligan’s Island, cast aways or deserted island people and other jungle themed characters. Ryan chose Tom Hanks character from the movie Cast Away. He grew a beard out for about a week, got some ratty clothes and made a “Wilson” ball that he carried with him. He did a really good job.

Alex was a snow princess and Connor was a cowboy. Hayden was too small to fit into any costume so I just put him in a Halloween onesie and called it good.

I’m not sure that we will be doing any trick or treating tonight, but I know Alex is really going to want to dress up again. Maybe I can talk her into just staying home and handing out candy. That’s what she did last year and still had a lot of fun.

Tuna Tower

Every day I’m putting away tuna cans and crystal light containers that Connor gets out of the Lazy Susan. I think about moving them to a different cupboard after about the third time of cleaning them up, but then I think of how much fun he has with them and if that’s what makes him happy then why should I take that away from him.

Maybe I should just put them in the toy box so that I’m not tripping on them every time I go into the kitchen. J

The Past Few Days

Things have been going great. Last week Ryan had to go on a business trip for three days it was the first time I was alone with three kids all by myself and that might not be a big deal for some people, but for me I was scared. But, my wonderfully thoughtful husband of course surprised me getting up at 4:00 am to take an earlier flight to get home at 1 p.m. instead of 11 p.m. He showed up with flowers and all. I was so thankful to have him home early and Alex and Conner were too!

The next day we went down to Utah again for the BYU game. I didn’t end up going to the game with Ry, but it’s always good to see family and everyone was able to see Hayden for the first time.

Hayden is now a month old and getting so much bigger. He really is still tiny, but lets just say I can already feel a difference caring him in his car seat and that is how I can tell that he’s getting bigger.

I got his four week pictures done last Thursday and will post them as soon as I get them back, but for now here are a few that I took just this morning - again they are not the best - but hey he is still cute to me.

Are You Kidding Me!

Today while talking to Ryan on the phone I looked at Alex and noticed that her hair looked a little funny. I couldn’t believe it she had cut her hair again. This is now the third or fourth time she has done this. Will she ever learn? Will I ever learn? That girl can not be trusted with scissors.

Tagged

I got tagged and it was fun to do. It brought back some funny memories of Alex.
What you do is open up your "my pictures" folder, go to the 4Th folder, and find the 4Th picture in that folder and post it.
One morning Alex woke up and got all dressed up by herself I think she was almost two. Ryan took her picture so that when I woke up I could see what she had done. She has always been my little princess.
Tag you'r it Janet, Ranay, Krista, and Annalisa Have fun.

Hayden :: New Pictures

I’m so glad that we have a blog! Living 3 hours away from family really isn’t that bad, but when you put a newborn in the mix it’s hard for grandparents to see them grow and wow, how babies change.

Hayden has definitely changed in the past 2 weeks and we want our family to see how much cuter he keeps getting. J

I will probably continue to try and post pictures of our new little guy every few weeks so sorry if some of you get tired of seeing him, but really, who doesn’t like looking at cute little baby pictures?

2 Week Check Up

Today we took Hayden in for his 2 week checkup and I’m happy to say he is doing great. He has gained weight and is now at 6 lbs. 13 oz., but he’s still tiny compared to other babies his age – he’s only in the 7th percentile.

Other than that there not much to report, things are still going well for me and the kids, but I’m beginning to think that I’m forgetting about someone. Oh that’s right Ryan, I feel like when he gets home from work that I’m so tired I forget to even ask how his day was.

Love you babe and I’ll try harder to not forget about you.

Better Late Then Never

Okay so time has gotten away from me and here we are going on 12 days from when Hayden was born. Last Thur. he was a week old and this is what I had planed to posting.

It is amazing how this sweet little spirit has come into our lives and he’s a perfect little fit to our family. He was so meant to be a part of our family and we look forward to him growing and developing his personality. His first week has been pretty low-key. He had a little jaundice, but after being on a bili blanket for one day and eating a ton, he’s doing great.

Alex and Connor love Hayden so much. Ally is always asking to hold him and Connor loves to gently lay his head down on Hayden’s chest and he loves to put his cheek on Hayden’s soft little head.

It really has been great and I look forward to every new day with Hayden, Alex and Connor that is after I wake up and get over being sleep deprived.

Hayden's Here!

At 9:49 p.m. on September 25, 2008 Hayden Blosch Sanford was born at Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Hayden’s Stats:
- 6 lbs 9 oz's.
- 19 ½” long

Hayden and Zenica are both doing great.

Zenica started having consistent contractions around 1:30 p.m. and they got stronger and closer together each hour. By 4:00 p.m. they were about 4-5 minutes apart and painful enough that she wanted to get to the hospital.

They held off Zenica’s labor for an hour or two since her doctor got called into a
C-section for another patient. These couple of hours were the longest so we killed time reading and watching Oregon State work over USC.

Anyway, Zen’s blood pressure was a little low, so they got that boosted up and once they increased the pitocin she progressed pretty quickly. They checked her at 9:30 and she was fully dilated, so within minutes Dr. Hall was here and after 2 ½ pushes, Hayden was born.

About 45 minutes after he was born, I went and picked up Alex (Connor was sound asleep) and she was so excited to see her new baby brother. She was so sweet with him and Zenica. When she left she was so happy, she was doing cartwheels (literally) in the hospital hallway and on the grass.

We need to give a BIG thank you to the Stacey family for watching Alex and Connor while Zenica’s parents made their way up from Utah. They were a real life saver!

We are very blessed that Hayden is healthy and I’m especially grateful Zenica is healthy.

Zen is amazing. I am blessed to have such a wonderful, beautiful wife that is an awesome mom. There’s no question that having three will challenge us, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Welcome to life and this wonderful world Hayden!

Laundry, Laundry and More Laundry…

So can you guess what I did yesterday? That’s right continuing to try and get ready for this little boy to arrive - and anytime now would be great!
I have taken out all of the baby clothes from the bins and have decided to wash everything before it’s too late. Unfortunately, I still only have one dresser but thankfully a second (non-broken one) will be delivered today!
I think I’m just hoping that once I get everything done that I’ll magically go into labor - wouldn’t that be great? I’m trying to be patient, but it’s hard when my belly keeps getting bigger and more uncomfortable.
Also this weekend would be a perfect weekend to have a baby because it’s BYU’s bye week and that means all the attention would be on me and the baby.  I’m really just kidding. Whether it’s this weekend or in two weeks I have the best husband that will always put his family first and for that I am so grateful.
Thank you Ryan for everything you have done and continue to do and for your sake and sanity, I really do hope we have the baby sooner than later.

They’re Sharing a Room…

It’s been some time since my last post, but not too much has been going on other than trying to get ready for the baby. We have decided to put Connor and Alex in the same room and it took me forever to decide on how to decorate a room that a boy and girl would share.

I finally come up with this idea after finding some bedding at Target. Ally’s room went from lavender to white with a brown accent stripe and we put pink and blue polka dots above each of their beds. Thanks to Nicole and her Cricut I was able to get all the dots I needed to put up on the wall.

The worst part about it was painting a purple room white. It took me and Ryan forever to get the purple all covered up with multiple coats of primer and paint

I still have a few things that I’d like to find to accent the walls and Connor’s blue dots don’t match he’s bed perfectly, but it works. Here is a before and after picture of their room.

Also Connor and Alex slept together for the first time last night and did better than I expected. Connor was jabbering at Alex and she kept telling him it was time to go to bed. She even went and tucked him in when he got out of bed. Hopefully they like being roomies for a little while.

Baby Trinity

Yesterday my brother Shaler and his wife Dani had their very first little baby. Her name is Trinity Blosch - she weighed 6 lbs 11 oz. and was 19” long. They were a little nervous because that cord was around her neck and hands, but everything turned out great and mom and baby are both doing well.

Congratulations guys we are so excited to see little Trinity in person this weekend.

Scrap Booking Challenge

A few of my friends put together another scrap booking challenge for the month of August and September. The challenge is 31 layouts and a mini book. It’s just what I needed to motivate me to get some of these things done before the baby comes.

Here is what I have so far - 17 layouts and a mini book. So the mini book isn’t quit done, but everything that’s left on it is easy and should take no time at all. Now I just need to get working on a lot more layouts, but I am halfway done and September hasn’t even started. I’m feeling pretty good about this challenge - so thanks to Janet and Nicole for coming up with it!

Alex’s First Day of Preschool

Today was Ally’s first day of 4-yr old preschool and she was so excited. She goes from noon-2:30 p.m., but she could hardly wait this morning - at 9:30 she was already asking if we could go. I tried to explain to her that we would go after she had lunch, but she was so ready to go, that was tough for her.

When we finally got there she was so eager to show her new teacher, Miss Sara, all her school supplies that she brought to share - it was really cute.

I had another ultrasound so Ryan picked her up today and she told him that she had a really fun time, but that one of the boys in her class was hitting her leg and that made it hard for her to listen to the teacher sometimes. Some of the kids in her class are the same, but Ryan said it seems like she’s made some new friends too and she is of course excited to go back next week. Hopefully it will be a really fun year for her.
