Trick or treat

Yesterday Ally was able to dress up in her Halloween costume for school. She had a lot of fun, but that was just the beginning of our day. Every year all the different departments at Ryan’s work dress up and let their families walk through along a trick or treat path. It’s always really fun for the kids. They had all kinds of themes from Toy Story to Harry Potter. Ryan’s department put on a “Vampire and Zombie Wedding.” Ryan dressed up as a zombie and did a great job making his costume.

Alex was a cute little witch and for some reason hated having her picture taken. I couldn’t seem to get a good picture of her all day so I’ll try again before she goes out tonight. Connor was a little devil, which is totally opposite of his personality, but he was still very cute. For some reason two people mistook him for a girl?!? I guess that’s what you get when you have beautiful green eyes and long lashes. Why is it that the boys always get the great long lashes?

Well, Ally got loaded up on candy yesterday so we really aren’t going to do very much trick or treating tonight. I think we’ll just hit a few houses here and there. It’s already 1:00 p.m. and I haven’t been able to get her to eat anything but candy all day. Good thing Halloween is only once a year.

Here area a few pictures that I was able to get yesterday of the kids and Ry.

Tag...I'm It And So Are You.

If you read this then you now have to come up with six random bits of information about yourself.

1. I'm the only girl in my family and I have three older brothers. (Tyson 38, Esha 35, and Shaler 31). Wow it's great to still be in my twenties!
2. When I was younger I use to model for a local artist in our neighborhood.
3. I have had 3 different surgeries. 2 on my left knee and my gallbladder was taken out.
4. I turned 16 in Beijing, China.
5. Most people know this already but I shaved my head when I was 17 due to a bet at soccer camp.
6. I am a horrible at spelling, reading and grammar. (I’m dyslexic)

A Fall Classic…

Saturday was so sunny and warm that I had to take advantage of it. I raked up the leaves for the kids to play in. Ally had so much fun running and jumping in them and Connor, well he just loves being outside. It was so fun to watch them play together. Connor is just getting big enough to be able to hold his own a little better when playing with Ally. She can still be a little rough and sometime doesn’t know when to back off, but for the most part they have a lot of fun together.

Pumpkin Time

Last night, for our FHE activity, we carved pumpkins. Ally had a ton of fun and was so proud that we used the pumpkins she grew.

She is so excited for Halloween. When we got done carving the pumpkins she keep saying “okay lets go trick or treating now.” She can’t wait for all that candy, but what kid can? This year she is going to be a witch and Connor will be a little devil. I can’t wait ether - I love dressing the kids up.

Happy Birthday Old Man

Yesterday was Ryan’s birthday (he’s 33 – can you believe it?). Ryan had a nice day and especially enjoyed seeing how much fun Alex had helping me with his birthday stuff. For dinner, Ryan wanted to take the kids and Leo’s Place. After dinner we played a bunch of games there too. It was a lot of fun. Every time I’ve gone to Leo’s it’s just been to let the kids have fun in the playland. But, after learning that there are a bunch of games Ryan and I enjoy like air hockey, skee ball, etc… I think we will be going there more often. It really was fun and hey, we even earned enough tickets with just a couple of bucks that Ally walked out of there with a slinky and a sucker.

Our Little Hair Stylist

I haven’t really had anything to post lately until today. On Friday night, Ryan noticed that Alex was busy primping in front of the bathroom mirror with a comb. He laughed and left her to her primping. A little later she came to me and looked fine until she asked for help to get the comb out of her hair. Boy was it tangled! I tried without any luck to get the hair out. I took her to Ryan and we decided that we would try to cut the comb out. It was such a mess. I don’t know how she got it so tangled up. It took us about 10 or 15 minutes, but after cutting the comb into tine pieces and a lot of patience, we were able to get the hair out without having to cut any of her hair - thank goodness! I’m still trying to grow out the hair she cut off back in Jan.

Snow Day

The first snow of the year Oct. 8th .
The first snow was early this year and it’s pretty much all gone today, but it’s still freezing outside. Alex saw the snow first thing Sat. morning and wanted to go out side. I had forgotten how much she loves playing in the snow. She still wants to play toady with what snow is left in the backyard.

Lookin Good.

I was at the mall today getting some hair product when I decided to get Connors hair cut. He has needed it for some time now and the girl was free at the moment. I really wish I would have had my camera there, but I didn’t. Lets just say he was one unhappy camper, but the end result was just what he needed.

Pumpkin Love

This year we decided to plant a garden, but got a late start. We didn’t even plant anything until early July. However, several weeks earlier Alex found the pumpkin seeds and “planted” them herself in the corner of the garden. We didn’t think that they would make it, especially after Ryan had tilled the garden in preparation for our seed planting. While the garden we planted was a big disappointment, to our surprise Ally’s pumpkins flourished. They, by far, outgrew anything else in the garden.

Last night we helped her pick two of her pumpkins. Now all she wants to do is carve them – she asks several times a day if she can carve them and if it’s Halloween yet.

Home Sweet Home

It’s so good to be home with the kids. Yesterday my step dad picked us up from the airport and the kids were still at grandma and grandpas. When we finally got to the house Ryan and I were like little kids on Christmas morning. We were so excited to see the kids and they were just as excited to see us. We had a great time, but did miss out on seeing Connor get more adventurous with walking. When we left he would take 4-5 steps, but he’ll now walk halfway across a room! He still prefers to crawl, but is working on walking and won’t be crawling much longer.

New York and Boston were so much fun. They are both so different as well. New York is obviously bigger, flashier (and dirtier). Boston is filled with history and has so many great New England trees. The tree lined streets, especially in the suburbs, were really amazing and beautiful.

Highlights of our trip
Sitting in the front row at the Late Show with David Letterman
Seeing Ground Zero (site of the World Trade Center)
Going to the top of Rockefeller Center at night
Going to the Statue of Liberty
Being in Times Square
Celebrity sightings: Got George Clooney’s autograph, saw Heather Graham, Jennifer Garner, and others…
Being at the Today Show
Eating at great restaurants
Seeing the Empire State building
NBC tour (Where Saturday night live is filmed)
Having a trip with just the two of us…and so much more.

That was all just in New York. Boston has a whole other list of its own, but I won’t bother you with that list. The greatest part about Boston for me was that I was able to see Andelyne. Next time (if there is a next time) I’m hoping I can spend more time with her. Ryan and I spent all of Friday and Saturday touring around Boston so only at night were we with Andelyne and Her husband Ben.

So that was our trip it’s going to be a long time before we are able to go on another trip without the kids, but I wanted to thank everyone again that watched the kids.
